Charlie Kalech, Director




As J-Town‘s director, Charlie Kalech combines an expertise of business and non-profit organizations with unparalleled experience in website design and Internet marketing. A pioneer in the graphic Internet with unsurpassed seniority in the field dating back to 1994 when the visual Web began, Charlie contributes a comprehensive approach with valuable insights in usability, information architecture, graphic design, Internet marketing and trends helping his clients define and achieve success.

Having studied at The Bezalel National Art School, The Institute of Contemporary Jewry of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and The Joint Program between Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, Charlie combines his formal education and a rich background to provide a uniquely relevant base of knowledge together with a professional and an informal network which are all utilized for his clients’ benefit.

In addition to the scores of non-profit and business websites he has developed, Charlie has created curriculum and taught Web design courses for professional training institutions, the IDF and individual clients. Charlie is a regular presenter at conferences and seminars on topics including web design, business and Internet marketing (See a selection of presentations below). He has trained community professionals in the use of media, under the auspices of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and others in Israel and overseas. He has served as an informal Jewish educator, including two terms as a shaliach for the Jewish Agency and is also a veteran journalist with a regular monthly column in the North American Jewish print media.
